Three care workers have been jailed after the family of a 94-year-old great-grandmother set up a hidden camera to catch them abusing her. Paniben Shahs family placed her at Meera House, Brent, in March 2017 following a fall. They initially put her claims of staff abuse down to early symptoms of dementia, the Standard reported. But when her health went rapidly downhill after a few months her son Kirti and grandson Amit concealed a tiny hidden camera inside a photo frame in her room. It captured staff at the home being rough when handling her, subjecting her to verbal abuse, threatening and hitting her and even dripping boiling hot water on her in March 2018. We couldnt believe it. The home seemed so professional at first, Amit said. Its horrible to think of the horrific cruelty my grandmother suffered at the hands of these women. Anita Kc Thapa, 46, Anita Bc, 49, both from Edgware, and Heena Parekh, 55, from Borehamwood, were jailed for six, five and four months respectively after pleading guilty to ill treatment by a care worker. Dolon Roy, 39, and Moumita Roy, 34, both from Wembley, were ordered to carry out 240 and 200 hours community service respectively and each pay 200 compensation after admitting the same offence.
